I was born in Fresno, California, the raisin capital of the world, but moved to the San Francisco Bay Area early in my life. I took up bass in 1966. Some of my early influences were Scott LaFaro, Chuck Rainey, Ray Brown, Ron Carter, and of course Jaco, to name a few. I play a hundred year old acoustic bass, and new and vintage fretted and fretless electric basses.
Besides having played in many local party bands and many local clubs, I have played, toured, and recorded with such groups and people as Mose Allison, Gerry Mulligan, David Byrne from the Talking Heads, Mel Torme, Andy Narell, Steward Copland from the Police, John Sebastian, The San Francisco Pops Orchestra, Nasville Symphony Orchestra, The Los Angeles Pops Orchestra, The Philadelphia Pops Orchestra, Cleo Laine and many others. Music has also given me the opportunity to travel and perform in such places as South America, Canada, Singapore, New Zealand, Australia, Europe, Monterey Jazz Festival, Montreux Jazz Festival, Montreal Jazz Festival, JVC Jazz Festival, Finger Lakes Jazz Festival, Toronto Jazz Festival, San Francisco Jazz and Blues Festivals, Carnigie Hall, Hollywood Bowl, and many other countries and places.
Most of my work here at home has been in recording. Since the middle of the seventies and all thru the eighties I have been the bass player on all of the "Charlie Brown and Snoopy" television shows and feature films. Also, I have recorded over 30 hours of music for the saturday morning cartoon series on CBS television "Garfield and Friends", and over a thousand commercials.
I love all styles of music. Some of my favorites are jazz, R&B, rock, salsa, Brazilian, Argentine, to name just a few.
